Vickerstock are working in partnership with a rapidlt growing crushing & screening business on the appointment of the Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods, materials, and services needed by the engineering department, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. This includes developing and implementing purchasing strategies and managing supplier relationships. They also play a crucial role in cost control, risk management, and ensuring alignment between procurement and production goals. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement purchasing strategies that support business objectives, improve efficiency, and deliver measurable cost savings. Ensure a robust and reliable supply chain capable of supporting production schedules and customer commitments. Continuously review procurement processes and identify opportunities for improvement and optimisation. Source, evaluate, and onboard suppliers based on quality, cost competitiveness, delivery performance, and service levels. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive performance, accountability, and long-term value. Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs and manage corrective actions where required. Ensure production schedules are fully supported through effective material planning and procurement activities. Anticipate potential shortages or supply disruptions and implement contingency plans to minimise operational impact. Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to align purchasing activity with planned builds, project requirements, and changing priorities. Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, including purchase orders, supplier communications, delivery tracking, and expenditure control. Oversee and maintain the purchasing schedule, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is available across the business. Support Goods In activities by verifying deliveries, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining stock accuracy. Identify and deliver cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality, delivery performance, or operational requirements. Analyse spending trends and supplier agreements to maximise value and improve commercial outcomes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and inventory management processes Proactively identify and manage supply chain risks. Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to protect business continuity. Ensure the business remains resilient to supplier, logistical, and market-related challenges. Criteria Experienced procurement/purchasing professional within the crushing & screening industry (please apply if you are in a closely related industry). Currently a senior buyer, category manager or Prior experience in a team or standalone environment. Strategic procurement experience. Related degree or qualification i.e., CIPS is desirable.
