Solicitor needed in Manchester, £25.31phPAYE - Reference: 000A 184C / 1
To provide a high-quality, efficient, and effective legal service to the Chief Constable, Chief Officers, and the Force to minimise exposure to criticism and legal claims. The role requires seeking further legal guidance and assistance when necessary.
To engage and instruct panel solicitors, counsel, and other professional advisors, consultants, and experts, where necessary, and to monitor the service provided.
To ensure that both in-house and external services are delivered in a cost-effective manner, representing quality and value for money, and that costs are recovered where possible.
To ensure the force complies with all legislation, including Health and Safety, Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and Discrimination laws.
To assist in providing a proactive legal service that anticipates the implications of legislative and case law changes for the Force, identifying needs for new policies and procedures, and generating timely advice and guidance.
To lead or advise on the preparation of new Force policies, procedures, and guidance documents, both internally and with partner agencies.
To identify and consider cases that require special handling due to their nature, seriousness, complexity, or sensitivity, and to provide advice accordingly.
To undertake legal training for members of the Force and partner agencies as needed.
This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
