PES manages contracts on behalf of the primary eye care network, spanning ~70 NHS commissioners and delivering over 380,000 episodes of patient care annually, with a total turnover of approximately £25+ million. PES is a not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee, with most income reinvested into frontline eye care services in optical practices.

Role Overview:
We are seeking highly skilled, experienced, and clinically focused optometrists to join our central telemedicine clinical team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment requiring strong clinical expertise, sound decision-making, and exceptional patient care.
The telemedicine optometrist will be responsible for delivering high-quality care, assessing and managing a wide range of ocular conditions. Maintaining clinical excellence, adhering to best practices, and collaborating to improve patient outcomes are essential.
This position is ideal for optometrists who thrive under pressure and are passionate about delivering high standards of care. The ability to stay composed, make informed judgments, and provide compassionate care is crucial.
Salary & Work Arrangements:
The FTE salary starts from £55,350. As this is a part-time role, the salary will be pro-rated. The role is predominantly home-based, with occasional attendance at the PES Head Office in Manchester, M4 6LN, including two full days for induction.
General Responsibilities:
1. Telemedicine Consultations: Conduct prompt, accurate remote patient assessments, managing conditions via the Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES). Requires swift decision-making and trust in your clinical judgment.
2. Clinic Management: Oversee your clinic efficiently, employing excellent time management to maintain high standards under pressure.
3. Effective Communication: Clearly convey clinical decisions to patients and colleagues, upholding professional standards.
4. Clinical Support: Provide timely support to administrative teams in high-pressure situations.
5. Service Improvement: Work with leads to identify and implement service enhancements for better patient care.
Shift Pattern:
We have several part-time vacancies with schedules from 9am to 5:30pm, on set days:
* Thursday, Friday, Saturday
* Monday, Friday, Saturday

What We're Looking For:
Qualifications:
* GOC Registered Optometrist (Essential)
* WOPEC MECS level 1&2 (Desirable)
* Additional GOC-registered qualifications (Desirable)
* Professional Indemnity Insurance via AOP (Essential)
Experience:
* Minimum 3 years as a qualified optometrist (Essential)
* CPD compliant with GOC regulations (Essential)
* Experience in urgent eye care services (Essential)
* Additional experience in various settings (Desirable)
