What's involved with this role: Job Title: SEND Officer Ref: Middlesbrough 5281169 Pay rate: £18.85 per hour PAYE Role length: Anticipated 6 months Working arrangements: Hybrid – minimum of 2 days per week in the office Additional requirements: Enhanced DBS The role: SEND Case Officers are the front line of the SEND Assessment and Review Team and each officer is vital to the delivery of a statutory service for the children and young people. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join an outstanding team who are committed to continuing to work hard to meet the needs of the children and young people. We are seeking to recruit someone who is passionate about children and young people, who has well developed communication and organisational skills, someone who wants to make a difference to the lives of the families. You will need a calm head and an optimistic outlook as you work collaboratively to bring about the best solutions within the statutory framework. Key responsibilities: Responsible for an allocated caseload made up of children newly referred for assessment, children undergoing the statutory assessment process and children who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) in place and who need regular reviews Continually monitor the status and progress of the children within your caseload Ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and outcomes are achieved Visit schools and settings throughout the working week What the client is looking for: Holds a minimum of a Level 3 Qualification in relevant discipline GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in Maths and English Experienced in process-based working and confident in managing data accurately Experience in coordinating special educational needs administration, systems, and procedures Knowledgeable about the SEND Code of Practice and statutory assessment processes Skilled in report writing and confident representing the service in a multi-agency setting Passionate about making a difference for children and young people Ability to deal sensitively with challenging situations regarding educational issues in dialogue with a range of professionals and with parents Knowledge of national and local issues relating to special educational needs reforms How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
