We are currently seeking a skilled Junior Sous Chef to join our very talented team in busy pub. The beehive in Houghton le spring. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in meal preparation, ensuring food safety standards, and contributing to the smooth operation of the kitchen.

You must have experience in a high paced, fresh food, high volume kitchen, all meals are cooked to order and a strong ability to cope under high pressure is a must. You will be given full training on the menu By the Head chef and Sous chef, so the food is kept to a high standard. Ability to manage and lead the Kitchen in the head chef and sous chefs abcence is a must.

We are a pub, but no ordinary pub.

We are working towards a 4 day working week once fully staffed, 4 days on, 3 days off with alternate weekends. This job is contracted to a minimum of 40 hours a week.

Salary based on experience, paid weekly with added share of tips also.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Responsibilities:

* Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and cooking

* Oversee daily kitchen activities to ensure efficiency and quality

* Lead and motivate kitchen staff, providing guidance and support

* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards

* Manage inventory and control food costs effectively

* Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative dishes

* Help maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment

Experience:

* Proven experience working in a professional kitchen environment

* Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food production, and restaurant procedures

* Leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team

* Excellent culinary skills with a passion for creating high-quality dishes

* Proficiency in food safety practices and procedures

* Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen setting

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £14.00-£17.00 per hour
