Here at Serco, we are looking for an experienced maintenance assistant to join our team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital prioritizes patient care and serves Norfolk, north Suffolk, and beyond. The hospital has 1,200 beds, state-of-the-art facilities, and collaborates with the University of East Anglia for training health professionals and research.
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisors, you will be part of the engineering team providing electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance across the hospital as part of Serco's Hard FM estates service to the NHS.
The post holder will ensure the hospital's building, fabric, plant, electrical, and mechanical services are maintained to high standards, ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability. Responsibilities include planned preventative maintenance and responding to repairs, such as:
* Fire alarm testing
* Lamp replacement and cleaning
* Emergency light testing
* Replacing nurse call leads and emergency pull chords
* Fire sprinkler testing
* Medical Gas routine testing
* Assisting with lift entrapments
* Boiler safety checks, including chemical dosage
* Ventilation grille cleaning
* Water safety checks, including temperature monitoring and TMV servicing
* Repairing leaks
* Meter readings
* Fire extinguisher checks
* Replacing fixtures and fittings
* Involvement in Operating Theatre maintenance
To qualify, you should have experience in a similar maintenance role within a large complex organization. Knowledge of building and engineering trades is advantageous. You should demonstrate professionalism, health & safety awareness, good communication, customer service skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
