Robertson Bell are supporting a large, complex, organisation based in South Essex to recruit an Interim Year End Accountant. This person will work closely with the Head of Finance through a critical period and take lead on much of the work required to deliver timely and accurate statutory accounts.
This is a hybrid role with the option to work across a couple of office locations, ideally three days per week although there is flexibility on this if required. The contract is expected to last at least three months.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Leading on the delivery of the year-end process in conjunction with the Head of Finance
2. Preparing statutory accounts and supporting disclosures
3. Acting as the primary contact for external auditors and managing audit requests
4. Preparing audit working papers and supporting schedules
5. Ensuring balance sheet reconciliations and controls are maintained
6. Preparing and submitting VAT returns to HMRC
7. Managing partial exemption calculations and associated reporting
8. Supporting accounting across the organisation and its trading subsidiary entities
9. Identifying opportunities to strengthen financial controls and processes
The successful candidate will:
10. Be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
11. Have proven experience delivering statutory accounts and year-end processes
12. Have experience acting as a key contact throughout external audits
13. Have experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
14. Ideally have exposure to partial exemption calculations
15. Have experience within the non-profit or public sectors
16. Be capable of operating independently and providing expertise from day one
