An established aerospace engineering organisation based in Yeovil is seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to support the design and development of advanced electronic controllers used within Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Life Support Systems.
These products are utilised across commercial, defence, and space aircraft platforms, contributing to safety-critical and mission-critical aerospace applications.
The Yeovil site is a major design, development, and manufacturing centre, offering world-class test and qualification facilities and a strong aviation heritage.
You will join a specialist Electronic Controllers team, working within a multidisciplinary environment responsible for delivering high-integrity electronic hardware integrated with complex software to meet stringent aerospace standards.
This role involves full lifecycle electronics engineering, supporting projects from initial concept and requirements definition through detailed design, verification, manufacturing support, and in-service issue resolution. The role is ideally suited to an engineer with strong analogue and digital circuit design experience gained within aerospace or another highly regulated industry such as nuclear or rail.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the end-to-end electronics design lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition through production and in-service support
Define and document electronics requirements, design plans, and technical specifications
Design analogue and digital circuits from concept through schematic capture, PCB layout, and full manufacturing drawing packs
Produce all supporting design, verification, and test documentation required for certification and manufacture
Participate in design reviews, clearly communicating technical content to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ensure compliance with applicable quality processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
Work closely with internal manufacturing teams and external suppliers to support PCB build, assembly, test, and system integration
Provide technical support for manufacturing issues and in-service investigations across the product rangeRequired Qualifications and Experience:
Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum of 3 years’ electronics design experience within aerospace or another highly regulated environment
Strong understanding of electronics design principles and industry best practice
Proven experience in low-power digital circuit design
Solid understanding of low-frequency analogue interface design
Experience using industry-standard ECAD tools (Mentor Graphics preferred)
Knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) methodologies
Familiarity with EMC design and qualification requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detailThis contract role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex, safety-critical aerospace programmes within a highly capable engineering environment, with the potential for extension depending on project demand.
