Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has now arisen to be part of an excellent team in the Acute Medical Unit at North Bristol NHS Trust. We are a forward‑thinking department with an emphasis on staff development and training. We are seeking an highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who can bring his/her clinical expertise to the team, providing support in leading the delivery of excellent patient care. The successful candidate will also lead in ensuring safe and efficient assessment and triage of medical patients.
Main Responsibilities
* Responsible for the day‑to‑day running of the Acute Medical Unit with a dedicated team of nurses.
* Supervision and support of staff.
* Participation in the planning, development and evaluation of services within the Acute Medical Unit.
* Work closely with the Supervisory Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure the efficient and effective running of the area of responsibility.
* Have overall responsibility for ensuring the clinical area is safe during each shift.
* Deputise for the Supervisory Sister/Charge Nurse and form part of the speciality senior nursing team.
* Contribute to the development of patient‑centred services.
* Contribute to the successful attainment of Trust and national quality and safety objectives.
* Provide specialist clinical advice and care within the designated area of responsibility.
* Ensure safe and effective patient flow through the emergency zone and onto the inpatient wards.
* Be visible and accessible to patients, families and staff, ensuring all have the opportunity to seek information, support or raise concerns.
Qualifications (Essential)
* NMC Registration.
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Teaching qualification.
Experience (Essential)
* Substantial acute experience.
Experience (Desirable)
* Leading nursing team per shift.
* Experience of supporting junior staff.

Appointment
