About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 15 The Team In-Business Controls (IBC) is an integral part of the Global Ratings Service team, comprising a diverse group of 50 employees spread across our offices worldwide. Job Summary The Global Head of IBC builds trust and brings people together to protect the SPGR franchise and champion a strong risk culture by strengthening and monitoring a robust first-line risk and control framework that adapts to evolving market dynamics and regulatory requirements. They actively engage stakeholders across SPGR practices and SPGI functions to foster collaboration, transparency, and shared accountability. They deliver actionable insights that enable informed, risk-based decision-making and support effective regulatory compliance. They foster innovation and operational excellence in all risk and operational processes, ensuring SPGR can respond swiftly and responsibly to emerging risks and opportunities. In addition, they support Workforce of the Future initiatives by adapting the risk and control framework where needed and preparing the IBC’s workforce. The Global Head of IBC sets the cultural tone for their team, modeling behaviors that foster inclusion, accountability, and shared purpose. Responsibilities Define and execute the global IBC strategy, operating model, and performance framework; align to SPGR’ priorities and Board/executive expectations. Implement and continuously enhance the control framework across analytical and non-analytical functions; embed controls into processes and solutions to ensure quality and adherence to regulation and internal policies. Proactively identify operational risk; sponsor smart process and control designs addressing exam findings and MAPs; centralize and oversee risk metrics. Serve as primary first-line liaison with Compliance, Internal Control, and Internal Audit to optimize the three lines of defense partnership and accelerate remediation. Digitize and automate risk and control processes; deploy data-driven monitoring/testing and analytics for control effectiveness and trend detection. Leverage AI–human analytical workflows to enhance control assurance and decision quality. Lead and role model behaviors associated with a high-performance culture that embraces creativity, optimism, innovation and collaboration. Is a standard bearer for our values and our excellence. Qualifications & Experience A S&P Global Ratings employee at this level would typically have 15 years of experience. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities, with a track record of building strong cross-functional relationships. Effective communicator and collaborative leader with experience in managing global, cross-regional teams. Deep experience leading first-line risk & control organizations in regulated, data-intensive businesses; deep understanding of internal control principles and effective control design/testing. Proven success partnering across Compliance (2nd line) and Internal Audit/Internal Control (3rd line) to optimize the three lines of defense model. Strong familiarity with Ratings’ analytical processes, regulatory frameworks for credit rating agencies, and global supervisory expectations. Track record of optimizing processes, automating control operations; and data analysis. Exceptional communication and stakeholder management at Board/executive level; ability to influence senior leaders and regulators. Ability in defining strategies to create sustainable long-term solutions reflecting the needs of the business whilst influencing stakeholder buy-in of those upwards and around them. Able to articulate complex ideas across functions, levels, and cultures both internally and externally, with the ability to negotiate effectively and agree on solutions. Demonstrable ability in leading and motivating teams through change, uncertainty, and ambiguous landscapes effectively. Compensation/Benefits Information : (This section is only applicable to US candidates): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $207,060 to $300,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
