As an apprentice you’ll be receiving practical and professional training from the start. You will work alongside experienced colleagues who will supervise your development and a dedicated mentor providing support and guidance throughout your training. You will have regular reviews with your manager and tutor to track progress and gain support with activities to help you progress.

Southampton City Council is committed to paying Foundation Living Wage as a minimum and apprentices should be paid fairly. Your salary as an apprentice will be £24,309 annually and may increase in line with any national rise in Foundation Living Wage.

Although we can’t guarantee a permanent job at the end of your apprenticeship, we will support you to apply for other roles within the council, and help prepare you for a wider job search with support from our Employment Skills team.


About The Role

We are looking for a confident and conscientious individual to undertake the role of Apprentice School Travel Assistant. You will play a key part in the smooth operational running of the busy School Travel Service. Supporting the Team Leader for Passenger Assistants you will provide administrative support including sickness and absence recording, sourcing cover for sickness and absence, general office and financial administration, answering telephone calls into the service and making outgoing calls related to the service.

You will be working towards the Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship with Fareport. The duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months with 3 months for the End Point Assessment.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £24,027 - £24,404. The starting salary is £24,027 with annual progression through the salary bands.
