Due to our continued success and ongoing business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a driven and engaging Transport Manager to join our team at the Greenford Shared User site.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to take their first step into a senior transport position. You will be responsible for overseeing a fleet that currently includes:
1. A daily driver pool of 20
2. 12 trucks
3. 10 rigids
4. 12 trailers
You will play a key role in managing operations between our Stafford and Portbury locations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high service standards across the board.
Duties and responsibilities:
5. Lead and manage a team of drivers, shunters, and Transport Team Leaders to deliver high levels of productivity and performance.
6. Be a role model in living our values - promoting an environment where respect, trust and integrity is always maintained
7. Take ownership of site budgetary and financial targets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
8. Motivate and guide your team to meet planned targets and deadlines through proactive leadership and support.
9. Drive continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing operational processes and methods.
10. Ensure full legislative compliance across all driver-related Health & Safety matters, including equipment and tachograph management.
11. Analyse transport data and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Delivery on Time, Delivery Success, and other customer-related metrics.
12. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customer meetings, presenting information clearly and professionally.
13. A flexible approach to working hours will be required
14. Ensuring all Personnel policies and procedures are followed that enable Colleagues to be treated fairly and with respect in line with the Wincanton Principles.
Experience, Skills, and Attributes:
15. Proven management experience overseeing large office and driver teams of 100+ personnel.
16. A strong passion for transport compliance, with in-depth knowledge of transport legislation and the capability to become the site’s O Licence holder.
17. A people-centric leader with a track record of driving positive cultural change within teams.
18. Previous experience operating at Transport Shift Manager level, with solid transport operational knowledge.
19. Demonstrated success in supervisory or management roles within a transport environment.
20. Strong organisational abilities and a commitment to delivering consistent quality in a fast-paced, time-sensitive operation.
21. Sound analytical thinking and the ability to apply logic in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
22. High levels of flexibility and a collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
23. Demonstrate relevant and practical experience in transport operations and team leadership.
24. Collaborate effectively with internal and external customers, colleagues, and third-party partners to consistently exceed service expectations.
25. Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with customers, stakeholders, and team members at all levels
26. Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance meetings, ensuring full compliance with company policies and procedures.
27. CPC qualified, is desirable.
