At the Environment Agency, this role supports the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, helping to maximise returns on our budget and demonstrate value for money.
Key Responsibilities
* Support commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
* Set up and manage pathfinder programmes to embed best practice and develop long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements.
* Provide country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community, championing effective governance and commercial assurance.
* Develop excellent internal and external relationships and become an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations.
* Undertake training and participate in incident response duties when required.
Required Experience and Skills
* A‑Level, Level 3 qualifications or equivalent.
* Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management skills.
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, assess risks, make informed decisions and deliver value for money.
* Administration skills – strong organisation, ability to write minutes and draft reports.
* Willingness to undertake long‑term professional qualifications (e.g., NEC, CIPS) and ask questions to drive development.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Education / Professional Requirements
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
* Working towards status with a recognised professional body (ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, RICS).
* Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
