Azure Cloud Platform Engineer
Salary: £75,000–£80,000Location: Central LondonHybrid: 2 days onsite / 3 days WFH
My client is seeking a highly skilled Azure Cloud Platform Engineer to join their growing technology function. This role will play a key part in designing, implementing and maintaining cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ensuring scalable, secure and reliable solutions across the organisation. You will work closely with development, application support, security and cloud operations teams to support the full lifecycle of modern cloud-hosted applications.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for building and managing Azure cloud environments, automating deployment pipelines, enhancing reliability through SRE practices, and ensuring compliance with security and governance standards. Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Design & Build
* Design, implement and maintain scalable Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform and IaC principles.
Deployment Automation & CI/CD
* Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.) to automate deployment of applications, infrastructure and integrations.
Monitoring & Reliability
* Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and apply SRE practices to improve availability and resilience.
Configuration Management
* Use Terraform and Ansible to manage and configure cloud resources consistently and securely.
Security & Compliance
* Implement cloud security best practices, ensuring alignment with regulatory and organisational standards.
Operations & Incident Management
* Collaborate with support and operations teams to resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis and deliver long-term fixes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with developers, QA, product teams and platform engineers to embed DevOps methodologies across the lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement
* Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, reduce costs and optimise cloud usage.
Technical Requirements
* Strong expertise in Azure cloud services and architecture
* Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform
* Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or equivalent CI/CD tools
* Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
* Knowledge of HA/DR solutions, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Experience with monitoring (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana)
* Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, compliance, identity management
* Knowledge of Azure Policies
* Practical experience with SRE principles
* Understanding of FinOps / cloud cost optimisation
* Background working in agile delivery environments
