Technical Consultant/Digital Transformation Consultant/Technical Architect

MUST BE BASED IN THE NORTH WEST WITH CLEAN DRIVERS LICENSE & ACCESS TO A VEHICLE.

Reporting into our Head of Professional Services, we are looking for an experienced Technical Architect/Consultant to join our Professional Services team at Chess.

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Technical Architect to deliver comprehensive ICT solutions, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 and Azure Public Cloud platforms while also maintaining support for on-premises infrastructure and Networking. This role involves working with a diverse client base and leading end-to-end digital transformation initiatives. Responsibilities include pre-sales consultation, solution design and scoping, system audits, implementation, documentation, and providing escalation-level support.

Responsibilities, but not restricted to:

Work closely with sales teams to translate key customer business objectives into flexible and functional ICT solutions.
Produce high-level and detailed proposal documents to present to customers at both executive and technical levels.
Attend meetings in conjunction with account managers at customer sites.
Collaborate on service improvement and technical project design work streams that involve documentation, diagrams, logistical planning and customer & vendor discussions.
Perform remote/on-site installations, site audits and produce system deployment documentation.
Provide general support escalation duties to customers as part of Chess managed support.
Undertake and achieve accreditations in line with Chess ICT’s preferred partners & suppliers and undergo additional training around the Chess product portfolio.
Assist colleagues in other areas and technologies in line with the Chess product portfolio, and in accordance with your skills and experience.
Willingness to work outside of standard hours when necessary, including to meet customer needs, provide assisted support, or cover for absences.

The Candidate:

Essential:

Proven experience in networking technologies including design, deployment and configuration of WAN/LAN, W-Fi technologies, including routers firewalls and switches.
Experience with traditional on-premises infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and backup technologies.
Comprehensive cloud systems architecture knowledge covering Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and relevant components in Microsoft Azure & Office 365.
Proven experience in Mobile Device Management (MDM) deployments, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Intune and Autopilot configuration.
Experience in migrating customer workloads from on-premises to public cloud.
Technical systems design based on capacity planning & aligned to business objectives.
High degree of documentation & diagram skills.

Expert understanding of the Microsoft technology stack, on premise & cloud.
Experience in performing Office 365 migrations including Exchange Online & SharePoint.
Awareness of the latest collaboration & communication platforms (Microsoft Teams Voice).
5 or more years working in a senior IT role (3rd line support, project engineer, Technical Lead).
Technical infrastructure skills across all major Microsoft Server technologies including virtualisation technologies.
Implemented & managed Microsoft IAM solutions (Active Directory, ADFS, Entra ID, Intune, etc.)
Experience in securing Microsoft Cloud tenancies.
Managing and deploying Endpoint products at a corporate or enterprise level.
Microsoft Associate or expert-level certifications
Cisco CCNA certification or above
High level of literacy, both written & verbal.
Effective communicator and a well-articulated speaker.
Organisational skills, including project management essentials.
Ability to work well independently & as part of a larger team.
Clean UK Driver’s license & access to a vehicle.

Desirable:

Identity Access Management experience.
Sound knowledge of the ITIL framework (or ITIL qualification)
Experience in Cisco Meraki infrastructure, deployment and support
Any other industry recognised accreditations

Hours: A standard week is 37½ Monday to Friday
