Nursery Nurse

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Nursery Nurse to join us in delivering excellent standards of care for children and their families.
You will provide high quality care to our young patients under the supervision and direction of our amazing registered Nurses working within the multi-disciplinary team.
The role combines working within the children's inpatient ward and children's outpatients, working a combination of long days and nights with shorter days in outpatients.

Main duties of the job
* To care for patients as a whole, being aware of the physical and psychological needs.
* To respect and understand the need for confidentiality and refer all enquiries to the nurse in charge.
* To be responsible for complying with Trust Infection Control policies and clinical guidelines.
* To establish good relationships with all members of the inter-disciplinary team, children and their carers and to communicate in an appropriate and effective manner.
* Under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse help with the patients' care specified in the individual care guidelines.
* To demonstrate knowledge of normal baby/child development and be able to recognise any deviations from normal.
* To be knowledgeable of safeguarding children and to work within the Trust's Safeguarding Policy.
* To have an awareness of the complaints procedure and the role of PALS within the Trust.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NNEB or BTEC Nursery Nurse Certificate or CACHE diploma.
* Care Certificate
* Specialist knowledge, e.g breast feeding, counselling skills
Experience
* Relevant experience within a paediatric or neonatal environment
* Previous or current experience/knowledge of working in a hospital care setting
Knowledge and Skills
* Normal baby/child Development
* Play/ education needs of children
* Health Promotion
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Competence in Basic Life Support
* Play and distraction techniques
