The Opportunity Walsall is a town with a proud industrial heart, currently benefiting from significant investment in technology and education. We are seeking a Science Teacher who can ignite curiosity about the natural world and the physical laws that govern it. This role involves teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering a high-quality curriculum that balances biological, chemical, and physical sciences. You will play a vital role in developing students' scientific literacy and preparing them for the challenges of a data-driven world. The Department You will be based in a modern Science block featuring state-of-the-art laboratories equipped for high-level practical work. The department benefits from a team of experienced Science Technicians who manage equipment preparation, chemical safety, and laboratory maintenance. We utilize a collaborative planning model, providing staff with access to shared digital resources, pre-designed practical assessments, and interactive simulation software. The faculty has strong links with regional STEM hubs and local industry, offering students unique opportunities for site visits and mentorship. Core Responsibilities Planning and delivering engaging lessons across all three science disciplines at KS3, with a specialist focus at KS4. Managing a safe and productive laboratory environment, ensuring all practical experiments are conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations (CLEAPSS). Preparing students for GCSE Combined Science and Triple Science examinations, focusing on mastering both theoretical concepts and required practicals. Developing students' mathematical and analytical skills through data interpretation, graph work, and the application of scientific formulas. Fostering a spirit of inquiry by encouraging students to form hypotheses, conduct controlled experiments, and evaluate their findings. The Successful Candidate We are looking for a scientist and educator who can make complex phenomena accessible and exciting. Requirements include: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related scientific field. Proven ability to teach across the ability range, providing both support for struggling learners and "stretch" for high-attainers. A strong understanding of the current National Curriculum and GCSE assessment frameworks. Excellent communication skills and a passion for staying up-to-date with contemporary scientific breakthroughs. Why Join Us?
