Overview
Staffordshire County Council is seeking experienced Social Workers to join the Assessment and Staying Together Team in Newcastle. This role involves working with families across the continuum of need, from child in need to the conclusion of care proceedings.
Responsibilities
* Complete statutory duties and coordinate the child’s plan, reviewing and ensuring children are seen and heard.
* Undertake Section 47 investigations.
* Place children into Local Authority care where agreed they cannot remain at home.
* Prepare both Private and Public Law reports.
* Refer children into centralised specialist services.
* Provide informal and formal mentoring to less experienced social workers.
* Work within legislation, council policies and procedures to improve child and family wellbeing and promote independence.
* Collaborate closely with colleagues in Early Help, Children in Care, Care Leavers, Children with Disabilities, health and education teams.
Qualifications
* Social work degree and registration with Social Work England (SWE).
* Post‑qualifying experience working with vulnerable children and safeguarding.
* Knowledge of key legislation and guidance (Children Act, Working Together, Adoption Act, Every Child Matters).
* Full UK driving licence.
* Experience in mentoring.
* Demonstrated ability to improve outcomes for children and young people.
* Examples of creative social work practice that keep children within families where safe.
