Your Role
As our School Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring our school premises are well-maintained, secure, and welcoming. You will be the go-to person for all things related to the upkeep of our facilities, representing the school with contractors and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment for students and staff.
* Perform cleaning, minor repairs, and routine maintenance tasks.
* Supervise cleaning staff to ensure high standards are met.
* Promote health and safety practices throughout the school.
* Assist with moving furniture and equipment as needed.
* Report any maintenance issues to the Head Teacher promptly.
* Manage larger repair projects by obtaining quotes from contractors.
* Conduct daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking.
* Oversee emergency cleaning tasks and arrange for annual deep cleans.
* Maintain cleaning supplies and tools, ensuring stock levels are adequate.
* Act as the main key holder, managing the security of the premises.
* Conduct regular checks of security systems and report any issues.
* Advise the Head Teacher on security and safety matters.
What We’re Looking For
* Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.
* Previous caretaking experience in a school setting.
* Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
* Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
* Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
* Literacy and numeracy skills to manage documentation and reports.
* A willingness to work in an environment with SEMH children.
* Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
