Agricultural Engineer
Salary: From £17.00 per hour (circa £37,000 per year based on 42 hours) + Overtime

Barker Ross is recruiting for hands-on Agricultural Maintenance and Irrigation Engineer roles within a growing agricultural engineering business in Corby. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with mechanical experience and irrigation knowledge to join a practical, varied, and long-term role.
The Role
You will be responsible for the assembly, servicing, inspection, and repair of agricultural machinery and irrigation equipment, including:
Hose reels
Irrigation booms
Water pumps
General agricultural machinery
The role is mainly workshop-based, with occasional travel across the UK to customer sites for breakdown support during peak seasons .
Key Responsibilities
Assemble machinery to customer specifications
Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI)
Service, maintain, and repair irrigation equipment and agricultural machinery
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults
Attend on-site breakdowns when required
Complete service documentation accurately
What We're Looking For
Hands-on experience with agricultural machinery or irrigation systems
Strong mechanical knowledge and practical skills
Proven ability to service and repair machinery or equipment
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Proactive, detail-oriented, and practical problem-solving mindset
Full UK driving licence
Desirable (Not Essential)
Engineering qualification (Agricultural, Mechanical, or similar)
Experience with irrigation systems or agricultural machinery
Basic hydraulic or electrical knowledge
Welding or fabrication experience
Forklift licence
Working Hours
Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00
Friday: 08:00-16:30
42 hours per week
Overtime available
On-call rota required
