Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal | Tier 3 Veterinary Hospital | Nottinghamshire Location: Nottinghamshire Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Part-Time Considered) Salary: £40,000–£70,000 DOE An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly regarded small animal veterinary team in Nottinghamshire. This role offers the chance to work within a Tier 3 veterinary hospital with an outstanding local reputation and a unique blend of first opinion and referral-level veterinary care. The practice is seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join its experienced team, replacing a valued colleague leaving in August. This opportunity would suit a vet confident in routine small animal practice, with a particular interest in internal medicine or a medical bias welcomed. The Practice This well-established veterinary hospital is recognised for delivering exceptional patient care through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. Combining the benefits of a first opinion practice with advanced referral-level facilities, the team manages a broad and interesting caseload supported by modern technology and specialist expertise. The practice currently employs 16 Veterinary Surgeons, alongside 20 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 19 support colleagues, creating a supportive environment where clinical development and teamwork are highly valued. The hospital benefits from multiple certificate holders across a range of disciplines, including: Surgery Internal Medicine Ophthalmology Anaesthesia Dermatology Several clinicians are also currently studying towards certificates in Surgery, Imaging, Internal Medicine and Endoscopy, making this an excellent environment for career progression and learning. The Role – Veterinary Surgeon This is a permanent Veterinary Surgeon role offering excellent clinical exposure, professional development opportunities and work-life balance. Key details include: Full-time position (part-time hours considered for the right candidate) Day rota including weekends No Out-of-Hours (OOH) commitments, supported by a dedicated OOH team Certificate support available for the right candidate Exposure to both first opinion and advanced veterinary cases Opportunity to work alongside experienced certificate holders The successful candidate will be confident with routine veterinary procedures and consultations in small animal practice. Applications are particularly welcomed from vets with a medical bias or interest in internal medicine, although all experienced Veterinary Surgeons are encouraged to apply. State-of-the-Art Veterinary Facilities This Tier 3 veterinary hospital in Nottinghamshire is exceptionally well-equipped, allowing clinicians to work to a high standard and manage complex cases in-house. The main hospital facilities include: High-end ultrasound equipment Digital radiography Dental radiography Endoscopy, rhinoscopy and bronchoscopy Electrocautery and laparoscopy Tonometry and slit lamp equipment Newly installed CT scanner The largest branch site also offers: Digital radiography and dental imaging Ultrasound facilities Fully equipped in-house laboratory The hospital laboratory is capable of running advanced diagnostics including: T4 SDMA Cortisol Bile acids CPLI/FPLI Coagulation testing Urine sediment analysis The team also benefits from access to Imagyst technology for rapid haematology and cytology interpretation. In addition to advanced surgical procedures, the wider clinical offering includes laser therapy, acupuncture and physiotherapy. Complex Surgical Caseload The practice’s experienced surgery certificate holders regularly perform advanced procedures, including: BOAS surgery Cruciate surgery (TPLO/CCWO) Patella surgery Fracture repair Cholecystectomy Liver lobe resection TECA procedures This makes the role ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to develop clinically within a progressive hospital setting.
