We are looking for a Specialist Adviser to join our Disability Energy Support Team.

You will have a good knowledge of the benefits system and experience of supporting people to apply for additional grant funding

You will work directly with customers who are struggling with their energy and water bills, supporting, and empowering them over the phone and via email.

You will also provide support and advice to DES Advisers on benefits, grants, and trusts

Fixed term until 31 March 2026. Offered as a secondment opportunity until 31 March 2026.

Full time - 35 hours a week (Mon – Fri. 08:30 – 16:30 or 09:00 – 17:00)

Location: Working at Scope's Leeds office (3 Brewery Wharf, Dock Street, Leeds, LS10 1JF) and working from home around meetings.

In this role you will:

* Researching and identifying grant funding opportunities suitable for disabled households, with a focus on energy support and broader needs and staying informed on disability-related legislation and welfare benefits to provide authoritative advice.
* Delivering and continually update training for energy advisers to ensure knowledge of available benefits, grants and trusts
* Ensuring timely, high-quality responses to enquiries regarding benefits, grants and trusts
* Supporting Customers through application processes
* Ensuring all information related to benefits, grants and trust funding opportunities is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to individuals with diverse needs.

About You

You will:

* Be experienced in using up to date knowledge of welfare benefits to support people.
* Be experienced in identifying and securing grant funding, preferably with a focus on support for disabled individuals or households.
* Have a strong ability to convey complex information in an accessible way.
* Have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
* Possess strong organisational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and tasks efficiently.
* Be a collaborative team player, capable of working effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Have experience of communicating difficult and complex information via telephone.
