Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Senior Healthcare Assistant Pre-Op. The closing date is 19 October 2025.
We are looking for talented, committed individuals who share our vision, values and professional ambition to join our Pre-operative Assessment team at Kidderminster Treatment Centre on a 30 hours contract.
As a Band 3 Healthcare assistant, you will be responsible for seeing patients in Pre-operative Assessment support clinic to undertake investigations relevant to the patients assessment. This will include, but is not limited to, venepuncture, ECGs, MRSA swabbing and CPE sampling.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Healthcare assistant, you will be expected to prep, plan and run your own clinic assigned to you via PAS. This will include health promotion, explaining patient information and clinical skills such as ECGs and Venepuncture.

Job responsibilities
Key Working Relationships: Department staff, Patients and their relatives/carers/significant other, Staff in other departments
Risk Assessment: The post involves manual handling activities, exposure to bodily fluids and exposure to high noise levels. It may also involve exposure to challenging behaviour.
Job Purpose: The Senior Health Care Assistant is a member of the department team who implements prescribed care and/or undertakes some higher-level clinical activities as directed by a registered nurse.

Experience
* Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant in an acute hospital environment
* Experience in POA environment
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Direct Care, or equivalent, or willing to work towards
* Key Skills literacy/numeracy or equivalent
Skills and Abilities
* Able to mentor and supervise other HCAs/Student Nurses in the working environment
* ECG Trained
* Computer Literate
* Knowledge of Trust IT systems i.e. Bluespier, CLIP, ICE and PAS
Other job requirements
* Must be flexible with shift patterns and internal rotation
* Confidentiality
* May be required to work in other departments as required
* This post requires the post holder to undertake core skills
* Fitness and mobility in order to be physically active throughout a shift and undertake manual handling activities
