Keep the wheels turning behind the scenes
At Stagecoach, keeping our buses on the road takes more than great engineering, it takes smart, efficient inventory management behind the scenes. We're looking for a detail-driven Inventory Assistant to support our Inventory Manager in managing stock across our national network of depots, ensuring the right parts are in the right place at the right time. This is a varied, data-led role where you'll combine desk-based analysis with real operational engagement, working closely with depot teams and supply chain partners to drive lean stock holdings, reduce obsolete inventory, and improve end-to-end processes across our business.
With 126 sites across the UK, this role offers exposure, influence, and the chance to make a tangible impact at scale.
This role has a start date of Tuesday 5th May, 2026.
What you'll be doing
* Supporting the management of Bus inventory to ensure lean stock holdings and optimised lead times
* Assisting with the development of Economic Order Quantities (EOQ) and MRP levels to maximise efficiency across depot stores
* Working with large datasets to cross-reference parts, pack sizes and pricing as part of depot mobilisation, demobilisation, acquisitions or divestments
* Uploading and maintaining bulk data files within our Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system, supporting BAU activity and covering parts catalogue maintenance when required
* Supporting the coordination of year-end stock checks across depots, including on-site attendance where necessary
* Producing regular and ad-hoc reports on stock control, including obsolete stock values and stock-per-bus metrics, with drill-down by operating company
* Assisting with investigations into discrepancies such as stock variances, system inaccuracies or process errors
* Liaising with depot colleagues, central teams and supply chain partners to ensure an efficient and consistent service
What we're looking for
* Experience in a similar previous role, desirably in a warehouse environment
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Proven experience analysing large volumes of data and working with procurement, logistics or enterprise systems
* A logical, analytical approach with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced environment
* A confident and professional communicator, comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders
* Resilience and adaptability, with a positive approach to change
Why choose Stagecoach?
* The opportunity to work at scale within one of the UK's largest transport operators
* Exposure to national projects, system development, and operational decision-making
* Competitive benefits package, including generous pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, free travel for you and a companion, and a wide range of retail and leisure discounts
* Career development opportunities across logistics, supply chain, engineering, and central services
* A supportive, inclusive working environment where your contribution genuinely matters
