This role assists the Knowledge and Library Services Manager by enabling excellent healthcare and health improvement through the provision of a professional library and knowledge service for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust and to their staff and healthcare students which aligns to organisational priorities and the national NHS England Knowledge for Healthcare Strategy.
The post holder will proactively promote and deliver knowledge and library services to a range of staff in their workplace settings. This may involve attending education days, multi-disciplinary team meetings and quality improvement groups to provide evidence from research and examples of good practice to inform the work of clinical and non-clinical staff.
Developing services to implement the Knowledge for Healthcare development framework, local strategy and meet national accreditation standards.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Library or information sciences qualification to degree or postgraduate level
2. Educated to ‘A’ Level standard
3. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
4. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP)
5. Chartered membership of CILIP (MCLIP) or currently working towards professional registration at chartership level.
6. Teaching/training qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
7. Experience working as a professional librarian or knowledge specialist in a library and knowledge setting or similar.
8. Delivery of a proactive professional library and knowledge service including managing enquiries and requests for research evidence.
9. Delivery of user education and training.
10. Managing a range of print and electronic resources, including stock selection, cataloguing and classification.
11. Promoting and marketing library and knowledge services.
Desirable criteria
12. Working within a healthcare library/information service environment.
13. Clinical, embedded or outreach library and knowledge services.
14. Experience of dealing with multi-professional staff and students.
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
15. Assessing and responding to complex information and training needs.
16. Devising and delivering complex expert searches using bibliographic databases and advanced web searching.
17. Highly developed IT skills applied in a library and information setting.
18. Synthesising and summarising search results.
19. Developing, delivering, and evaluating effective 1:1 and/or group information skills teaching and training for adults
20. Presentation skills.
21. Facilitating knowledge mobilisation activities such as journal clubs, knowledge cafes, after action reviews and randomised coffee trials.
