Principal / Lead Stress Engineer
Location: Stevenage (relocation package may be available)
Working Pattern: Dynamic (hybrid) working – minimum 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship
The Role
Due to an increased workload, the Mechanical Analysis Group is seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to lead the structural design and development of a next-generation, complex weapon platform.
In this technical role, you will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams across our UK sites, playing a pivotal part in delivering advanced aerospace structural solutions. Your expertise will directly contribute to proving the capability and performance of my Clients military systems across the full product lifecycle.
The Opportunity
The Mechanical Analysis Group is responsible for the structural and thermal performance of the companies military products. The work spans from early concept studies through detailed design and development, qualification, manufacturing support and in-service support.
As a Stress engineer
You will gain exposure to a broad range of structural analysis activities, including:

Classical hand calculations
*
CAE modelling (Static, Dynamic, Fatigue, Aeroelastics, Non-Linear, Impact, Kinematic)
*
Qualification and design testing
*
Fault investigation and loads derivation

What they are looking For

Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Analysis), or equivalent significant industry experience
*
Proven experience estimating, planning, leading and delivering structural analysis work packages
*
Strong capability in both classical hand calculations and CAE tools (HyperWorks desirable)
*
Experience producing and presenting clear, comprehensive technical reports to a range of stakeholders, including senior management
*
A proactive mindset with a passion for improving tools, processes and methodologies
*
Ability to mentor and support junior engineers, providing technical leadership and guidance
*
Self-motivated, adaptable problem-solvers who can work independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and manage stakeholders
*
Composite stress analysis experience (desirable)
*
Willingness to obtain and hold DV clearance (desirable)
