Overview
At Birmingham Children’s Trust, we are committed to providing outstanding care and support to children and families across Birmingham. As part of the Adoption & Fostering Family Finding Team 1, you will lead the identification of suitable families for children with adoption or long‑term fostering plans, working closely with local authorities, external agencies and the rest of the team to secure permanent placements.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and secure suitable permanent families for children, using internal resources and external adoption and fostering agencies.
* Assess each child’s permanence and support needs and chair professionals’ meetings to plan and progress matching.
* Provide direct support to children, relevant professionals and carers to enable successful transitions to new families.
* Develop and implement children’s Care Plans, Adoption and Fostering Support Plans, Matching and Placement Reports and Placement Plans.
* Coordinate and chair professionals’ meetings, including Matching and Support Meetings and Transitions and Placement Planning Meetings.
* Report safeguarding issues promptly and follow up to ensure children’s safety and well‑being.
* Prepare reports for Court and Panels, including Matching and Family Finding Reports, and attend Court or Panels when required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Social work qualification and statutory registration with the Office of the Public Health Professions.
* Experience working in a child protection/social work environment, preferably with an adoption or fostering focus.
* Strong liaison skills and the ability to work collaboratively with local authorities and external agencies.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to plan and progress children’s placements independently.
