Business Development Account Director – Cell & Gene Therapy (Europe)

Reporting to the Regional Director, Business Development Europe, this role is accountable for driving new business growth across Europe for Catalent’s Cell & Gene Therapy development and commercial manufacturing services.
This is a pure new‑business, hunter role focused on originating, qualifying, and converting high‑value CDMO opportunities with biotech and pharmaceutical clients across the CGT landscape.
The Role
1. Own and deliver new business revenue, pipeline, and bookings targets across Europe
2. Proactively identify, pursue, and close new customer opportunities in Cell & Gene Therapy
3. Build senior‑level relationships within European biotech and pharma organisations
4. Lead customer engagements, pitches, and negotiations through to contract signature
5. Work cross‑functionally with Technical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Proposal teams to shape winning solutions
6. Drive opportunities through the full sales lifecycle, from first contact to MSA execution
7. Represent Catalent at European partnering events, conferences, and industry meetings
8. Maintain accurate opportunity and pipeline data in CRM
9. Negotiate CDAs, proposals, and MSAs in line with commercial objectives
The Candidate
10. Degree in Life Sciences (BSc, MSc, or PhD)
11. Strong Cell and/or Gene Therapy experience (essential)
12. 5–10 years’ success in European life sciences business development, ideally within a CDMO
13. Proven track record of winning new business, not account maintenance
14. Existing network across European biotech and pharma
15. Commercially driven, resilient, and highly self‑motivated
16. Able to articulate complex technical value propositions to senior stakeholders
17. Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills (English required)
18. Comfortable operating independently in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment
19. Willing to travel extensively across Europe (up to 50%)
