Mechanical Engineer – Advanced Process Systems – 6 month FTC

Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a forward-thinking and results-driven Mechanical where you will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of innovative mechanical systems, with a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
This position involves working across the full development lifecycle - from concept through to prototyping and validation - while collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners.
Mechanical Engineer responsibilities
* Design and develop innovative mechanical systems and components, optimised for performance, durability, and manufacturability
* Contribute to projects involving design, prototyping, and testing of advanced process systems
* Manage and collaborate with third-party partners, including technology providers, suppliers, and manufacturers
* Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and performance assessments under real-world conditions
* Build and test prototypes, ensuring robust validation of performance and reliability
* Identify and implement cost-effective manufacturing approaches for both new and existing designs
* Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including materials scientists, chemists, and process engineers
* Present technical concepts and solutions to internal stakeholders and external partners
Mechanical Engineer requirements
* Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; advanced qualifications are advantageous
* Proven experience in mechanical design within a technical, R&D, or manufacturing environment
* Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks) and simulation software (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL)
* Experience with process equipment or systems such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, reactors, or similar
* Hands-on experience with prototyping and mechanical testing
* Strong problem-solving ability with a creative and innovative mindset
* Knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and advanced materials
* Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
* Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical teams
* Project management experience is beneficial
