Position: Senior Ecologist
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead ecological input into planning applications, ensuring developments support biodiversity and comply with legislation.
2. Champion Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), embedding it into planning policy and practice.
3. Line manage and mentor a team including an Ecologist and a BNG Officer.
4. Collaborate with planners, developers, and stakeholders to deliver nature-positive outcomes.
5. Drive innovation and best practices in ecological assessment and nature recovery.
6. Coordinate with the Natural Environment Team within the council and ecologists across neighboring LPAs.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Qualified ecologist with significant experience in planning and development.
2. Strong knowledge of BNG, ecological legislation, and policy.
3. Proven leadership and line management skills.
4. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
5. Strategic mindset with a passion for ecological impact.
