Job Title: Site Operations Manager Waste Acceptance, Processing & Compliance
Location: Henfield, West Sussex BN5 9SE
Salary: £41,000 to £46,500 (Annual Bonus linked to site KPI performance)
Reporting to: Southern Regional Director (SRD)
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and results-driven Site Operations Manager to oversee the waste acceptance and processing operations at our permitted Henfield Waste Recycling Park. This role requires a strong leader who can drive efficiency, compliance, and profitability while maintaining high operational standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, a deep understanding of environmental regulations, and the ability to manage people, processes, and finances effectively.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
Inspire and lead a high-performing site team
Ensure robust training, development, and performance management
Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Environmental Compliance
Ensure operations comply with all regulatory requirements, permits, and EMS
Champion health & safety, site cleanliness, and audit readiness
Financial & Operational Management
Take ownership of site P&L and financial targets
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and revenue growth opportunities
Enhance processing methods and increase waste throughput
Client & Site Relations
Manage relationships with third-party customers and suppliers
Ensure all site visitors are inducted, supervised, and compliant
Uphold waste quality control and enforce site protocols
Reporting & Maintenance
Provide monthly performance, compliance, and financial reports to senior leadership
Oversee equipment maintenance, repairs, and asset reporting
Growth & Strategy
Seek new business opportunities aligned with growth objectives
Manage key customer and supplier relationships for outbound waste processing
Support internal audits and assist in external waste management reporting

Experience managing fast-paced waste or environmental operations
In-depth understanding of environmental legislation and site compliance
Financial literacy with P&L responsibility
Process optimisation and innovation capabilities
Strong customer and stakeholder management skills
Excellent reporting, communication, and problem-solving ability
WAMITAB certification (desirable, but not essential)
