Lucy's Pantry is a community grocery shop and hub, providing healthy, affordable food while reducing waste and building strong connections across Walsall. Since 2021, we've supported hundreds of local residents, creating a welcoming, safe, and empowering space for all.
Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive Lead Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day running of Lucy's Pantry Walsall. This hands-on leadership role involves:
* Run the shop and serve members directly, including assigning membership cards.
* Recruit, train, and manage volunteers, fostering a positive and supportive team culture.
* Oversee stock, donations, deliveries, inventory, and financial records.
* Handle budgets and ensure accurate cash and payment management.
* Coordinate community engagement initiatives, including cooking classes, gardening projects, recipe programs, and events.
* Manage the community space, including bookings and use for events.
* Liaise with local partners, funders, and suppliers to support and grow pantry initiatives.
* Use digital tools creatively to improve operations, member experience, and sustainability.
This is a varied, dynamic role combining operational leadership with hands-on work, offering an opportunity to make a real difference in the community.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience in retail or shop operations, including customer service, pos system, sales, and stock management.
* Experience recruiting, coordinating, or managing volunteers or small teams.
* Confident handling cash, budgets, and basic financial records.
* Experience with membership systems or issuing membership cards.
* Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Tech-savvy, comfortable with digital tools, spreadsheets, and social media.
* Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently while supporting a team.
Desirable:
* Experience in community, charity, or social enterprise work.
* Understanding of food poverty, food waste, or community food initiatives.
* Experience coordinating events, community programs, or projects.
* First Aid or Food Hygiene qualifications (or willingness to train).
* Experience in fundraising, partnership-building, or working with local organisations.
* Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and creative approaches to community engagement.
