University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust offers a Junior Fellow – Medical Specialties position commencing August 2026 on a 12‑month fixed‑term training contract.
The role is part of the Trust’s Acute Medicine, Elderly Care, Respiratory, Gastroenterology or General Medicine directorates, with rotation through multiple areas.

Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day inpatient care, including ward rounds, ordering and interpreting investigations, discussing care plans with patients and carers, and managing medical emergencies.
* Manage inpatient, outpatient and community assessments, ensuring holistic care for 15–20 patients per shift under consultant supervision.
* Participate in outpatient work as required.
* Proactively manage all aspects of patient care, reporting to consultants and collaborating with multi‑professional teams.
* Contribute to emergency out‑of‑hours cover appropriate to level of training; salary supplement may be offered.
* Work a full‑time schedule (40 hours per week); part‑time or job‑share arrangements may be considered.
* Undertake rotation design to gain varied clinical exposure across specialties.
* Attend educational sessions provided by a named educational supervisor to support continuing professional development and appraisal.
Qualifications, Training & Experience
Essential Criteria
* GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* Broad experience in Acute Medicine.
* Working experience within the NHS.
* Appropriate knowledge base and sound clinical judgement.
Desirable Criteria
* MRCP Part 1 and Part 2 (written).
* MRCP PACES.
* Publications.
* Research and audit experience.

* Good clinical and interpersonal skills.
