Offer description

Capital Asset Management is an established, client-centred financial planning firm based in the City of London. We help individuals, families and business owners envision their ideal future lifestyle and build the financial roadmap to get them there. Our philosophy centres on maximising each client’s Return on Life, ensuring their wealth serves the life they want to live, not the other way around.

We are a close-knit, ambitious team united by five core values: curiosity, candour, creativity, client focus and collaboration. We invest heavily in our people, our technology, and the quality of advice we deliver.

About the Role

As a Paraplanner, you will be a central part of one of our client “pods” working alongside a Financial Planner and a Client Services Administrator to deliver outstanding financial planning to a defined client bank. You will take ownership of the technical research, analysis and report-writing that underpins every piece of advice we give, while building meaningful relationships with our clients.

This is not a back-office support role. You will attend client meetings, contribute to planning strategy discussions, and play a key part in shaping the advice our clients receive. If you are looking for a role where you can develop your technical expertise, deepen your client skills, and genuinely influence outcomes, this is it.

Qualifications & Experience

* Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (CII or equivalent); RO1–RO6 preferred
* Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in a paraplanning or associate planner role within a UK financial planning firm
* Solid working knowledge of pensions, investments, tax planning, protection and estate planning
* Actively working towards or willing to commit to Chartered Financial Planner status (Level 6) or equivalent advanced qualifications such as the CISI Diploma
* Familiarity with cashflow modelling tools (e.g. Voyant, Truth, CashCalc) is a strong advantage

* Conduct thorough research across pensions, investments, protection, tax and estate planning to identify suitable solutions
* Analyse client portfolios, risk profiles and cash flow projections to support the Planner’s recommendations
* Prepare high-quality suitability reports, annual review packs and ad-hoc advice documents that are clear, compliant and client-friendly
* Produce and maintain accurate cash flow models using the firm’s planning software

Compliance & File Quality

* Ensure all client files, research and advice documentation meet FCA requirements and the firm’s internal compliance standards
* Review instruction forms, legal documents (including Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney) for completeness and accuracy
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on the firm’s back-office system
* Work closely with the Planner to shape advice strategy for each client
* Support, coach and mentor the Client Services Administrator within your pod, helping them develop technically
* Contribute to pod-level forecasting, pipeline tracking and service-level reporting
* Share knowledge, best practice and process improvements with the wider paraplanning team

Continuous Improvement & Professional Growth

* Stay current with regulatory developments, market trends and product changes relevant to financial planning
* Actively pursue your professional development plan, including study towards advanced qualifications
* Identify opportunities to improve processes, templates and the overall efficiency of the paraplanning function

Skills & Attributes

* Technically strong with excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities
* Exceptional attention to detail, you take pride in producing accurate, polished work
* Clear, confident communicator, able to explain complex financial concepts in plain language, both in writing and in person
