An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our growing Family Department as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal on a full time, permanent basis.
Job Purpose
You will provide dedicated administrative and legal support to the Family Law Team including providing quotations to clients, drafting legal documents, preparing electronic court bundles and forms, obtaining and checking client identification and liaising with clients both by telephone and face to face. You may also be required to attend court.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Family Law department with general administrative tasks.
* Interact with clients and provide updates, including meeting face-to-face.
* Undertake (with training) typing and digital dictation.
* Answer telephone calls, promptly and accurately relaying information.
* Use and update the case management system.
* Enter files onto the case management system ensuring that due diligence and Money Laundering checks are completed and recorded as required.
* Assist fee earners with file opening/closing processes.
* Assist with the preparation of court bundling and other court related processes.
* Deal with court queries and form processing.
* Implement compliance requirements of caseloads and ensure adherence to company policy, AML, DP, SRA Handbook and SAR.
* Ensure court timescales are adhered to.
* Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk if and when noted.
* Contribute to the effectiveness of the team.
* Work effectively with individuals internally and in other agencies to meet client needs.
* Effectively organise own time, workload and resources.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
* At least 4 years legal secretary/assistant experience ideal.
* Superb client care skills.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Strong team player.
* Ability to work on own initiative and alone when solicitors are at court.
* Positive and solution focused approach.
* Use of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
* Trustworthy and reliable.
* Able to manage high volumes and complete workloads.
* Flexible, innovative approach.
* Forward thinking and proactive.
* Responds to opportunities in an enthusiastic manner.
Desirable Experience/Qualities
* At least two years’ experience in a similar role.
* Positive and solution focused approach.
* Experience of using a Case Management System.
* Experience of digital dictation.
