Primary Tasks:
* In line with the Defence Plan, RN Command Plan and supplemental direction and guidance, including but not limited to the Maritime Commitments Strategic Steering Group, Fleet Commander's Priorities and COMOPS operational requirements, develop and implement a balanced, coherent and affordable schedule for RN SSNs.
* Produce, and maintain, the Submarine Fleet Operational Programme (FOP) and Long-Term Operational Schedule (LTOS).
* Maintain close liaison with FOMO(SM) and SM Ops, providing timely advice on SSN programming and Force Generation issues. In particularly highlighting when short-term decisions may impact long-term platform availability.
* In conjunction with key stakeholders, draft clearly articulated Force Generation Orders (FGOs) and Fragmentary Orders (FRAGOs) that direct the generation of units capable of delivering the required effects.
* Provide accurate and timely inputs to the Quarterly Performance and Risk Report (QPRR) and Capability Readiness Assessment Framework (CRAF).
* Act as primary point of contact and Subject Matter Expert for SSN programming matters.
Secondary Tasks:
* Maintain close liaison with SDA-ISM to align the SSN FOP/LTOS with the requirements of the SSMP.
* Through close liaison with SDA SM-P Requirements Manager ensure that new build submarine delivery programmes are incorporated into the SSN LTOS.
* In conjunction with the Submarine Capability Delivery Team (SM-CDT) incorporate trials, in support of capability and tactical development, into the SSN FOS/LTOS
* Manage the delivery of the BUTEC Fleet Support Contract.
* Issue the monthly Submarine Assignment and Readiness signal and 6-monthly forecast. Provide monthly FOS extracts to operational submarines and issue timely FOS Amendments.
* Maintain close liaison with SUBFLOT and SM Commanding Officers in pursuit of primary and secondary tasks.
* Attend National, NATO and other Exercise Initial Planning Conferences, assigning UK SSNs accordingly.
* Assist NAVY FGEN N5-SO1 SM in the production of the SSOP.
* Undertake the duties and responsibilities of OiC Fleet Incident Response Cell (FIRC)
* Brief SM professional career courses as required.
* Be prepared to conduct short notice visits and deliver briefs / presentations on behalf of NAVY SM.
* Be prepared to conduct berthing assessments on behalf of NAVY SM Ops as the SM Warfare SO2.
* Additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by NAVY N5-Captain.
