The post-holder is responsible and accountable for managing the day-to-day work of the Theatre Decontamination Unit. This includes ensuring that all instruments are correctly accounted for and tracked post-procedure, and that they are received in good and timely order from our off-site decontamination unit. The role involves supervising the Decontamination Technicians and supporting the Theatre team.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Receiving contaminated reusable medical devices from the Theatre and ensuring they are packaged for transport to the off-site sterilisation unit.
2. Tracking all instruments according to national guidance.
3. Ensuring reprocessed instruments are returned from the off-site unit and delivered to the correct Theatre areas.
4. Managing the day-to-day operations of the Decontamination Unit.
5. Providing supervision and support to Decontamination Technicians.
6. Coordinating with Theatre staff to ensure timely processing of instruments.
7. Ensuring compliance with departmental and national standards for decontamination and tracking.
8. Training and supporting staff within the team.
9. Maintaining quality standards and meeting turnaround times with the off-site decontamination unit.

Candidate requirements:
* Good command of written and spoken English
* Experience in Theatre, Decontamination, or Stores
* Understanding of the decontamination process
* Computer literacy and numeracy skills
* Leadership ability
* Strong customer service skills
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent communication skills
* Flexibility to meet departmental needs
* Ability to deliver high-quality service to Theatre staff and Consultants
Key responsibilities:

* Processing contaminated devices according to policies and standards
* Tracking instruments per national guidance
* Liaising with Theatre Leads for timely processing
* Meeting contractual obligations of turnaround times and quality
* Informing the Theatre Coordinator of delays
* Processing and tracking loan kits
* Providing training and support to staff
