Job Advert Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Tarian’s Regional Cyber & Fraud 3P Engagement Team for an innovative and motivated Cyber / Fraud Prepare Officer. This new role plays a vital part in strengthening cyber resilience across policing, public services, and critical infrastructure in Wales.

You will be at the forefront of developing and delivering our cyber exercising projects, internal training programmes, and operational cyber preparedness initiatives that ensure forces, partners, and key organisations are equipped to respond effectively to cyber incidents and disruptions. The successful candidate will be part of a creative, technically minded, and forward-thinking team, working collaboratively across the region while also demonstrating strong self‑management and commitment to delivering results.


Key Responsibilities

* Develop, coordinate, and deliver cyber exercising programmes for police forces, public sector partners, and stakeholders
* Design, lead on and facilitate tabletop, simulation, and live‑play cyber exercises to test and improve organisational resilience (internally and externally).
* Deliver presentations, briefings, and training sessions to a wide range of audiences, from operational teams to senior leadership.
* Contribute to debriefing, identifying lessons learned and embedding best practice.
* Support the development of business continuity and major incident plans, helping organisations learn how to respond and remain operational during a cyber incident.
* Collaborate across the regional and national network to share learning, promote innovation, and align with the NPCC Target Operating Model.
* Build relationships with key partners including government, transport hubs, critical infrastructure operators, and local authorities to enhance cyber preparedness.
* Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, threats, and methodologies to ensure exercises reflect real‑world challenges.


About You

We’re looking for a confident, adaptable, and motivated individual who thrives in a fast‑moving, collaborative environment.

You should have:

* Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a range of audiences.
* Strong organisational and project management skills, capable of planning and delivering multiple activities.
* A creative and innovative approach to developing training and exercising content that engages and challenges participants.
* A technical aptitude, with some understanding of programming, scripting, or digital systems (developer or coding skills are desirable).
* The ability to work as part of a supportive, innovative team, while also demonstrating independence and accountability in managing your own workload.
* A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement in cyber resilience capability.


Qualifications and Experience


Essential

* GCSE Level A–C in English and Maths (or equivalent).
* Willingness to undertake NPCC‑accredited cyber training, including CompTIA Security+ and CISMP (Level 4).
* Experience in delivering training, presentations, or public engagement activities.
* Full, valid driving licence.


Desirable

* Degree or equivalent in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
* Experience in developing and running cyber exercises or major incident simulations.
* Experience with programming, software development, or system configuration.
* Welsh Language Level 2 or above.
