- Reconcile revenue and post to the accounting system. Improve speed and accuracy so month-end revenue processing consistently lands on time.
- Post payroll and pensions journals correctly each month. Ensure compliance submissions are made on time.
- Own month-end to a high standard. Deliver accurate management accounts within 7 working days, with clear variance commentary.
- Maintain a clean balance sheet. Lead prepayments, accruals, fixed asset registers and control account reconciliations whilst limiting aged surprises.
- Build useful board-ready reporting. Produce dashboards and covenant KPI monitoring that auto-populate from the TB and stand up to scrutiny.
- Partner with Business Intelligence. Align data definitions and take ownership of report integrity.
- Support budget holders. Start regular budget vs actuals and evolve cost-centre reporting for our offices as foundations are set.
- Comfortable identifying opportunities to implement changes that remove manual effort and mitigate error.
- Be a steady pair of hands. Provide occasional cover for payments and respond quickly to finance queries from the business.
- Statutory and regulatory reporting.
- Help us modernise systems. Support the FDto implement a cloud-based financial management system.
- Other ad hoc projects and reporting from time-to-time.
Why you're a great fit
- Part-qualified or QBE accountant with a good level of Management Accounting experience in industry. You know what good looks like and have a continuous improvement mindset.
- Comfortable owning month-end, journals, reconciliations and commentary.
- Good Excel skills. Confident with lookups, pivot tables and building tidy, auditable workbooks.
- Analytical, meticulous and reliable. You notice the detail, identify exceptions and fix the root cause of errors.
- Enjoys independent working, builds trust through transparent, concise and regular communication with the FD, knows when to escalate and ask for support.
- Clear communicator who works well with non-finance colleagues.
- Pragmatic mindset. Happy to follow established methods at first. Improve once trust and understanding are in place.
- Lifelong learner, curious and adaptable, evolves skills with emerging technology.
Desirable
- Experience in financial services.
- Exposure to BI tools or working with data teams, e.g. Power BI.
- Systems change experience, ideally migrating finance systems.
- Experience guiding or supporting junior team members day to day.
