We're recruitng a Financial Controller for a privately owned property investment and management group in Blackburn. This role has come about due to retirement, with the current Financial Controller planning to retire once the handover has been completed. The business manages around 40 separate entities across commercial, industrial, and retail property, with turnover of c.£100m. All finance is handled in-house - from service charge budgets and reconciliations through to management accounts, statutory accounts, and compliance. You’ll lead a team of 5 and report directly to the owner, taking full ownership of the finance function. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage and develop a finance team of 5 Full responsibility for the finance function across 40 entities Prepare and present management accounts to senior stakeholders Produce statutory accounts and manage the audit process Oversee service charge budgets and reconciliations (all handled internally) Manage VAT returns and ensure compliance across all companies Maintain cashflow, reporting and financial controls Provide analysis and recommendations directly to the business owner Shape financial processes, improve systems and strengthen controls Balance hands-on detail with broader oversight of group performance Candidate Profile Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) Significant experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader Background in multi-entity environments – property experience useful but not essential Strong technical grounding in both management and statutory accounting Commercially minded, pragmatic, and adaptable Proven leadership skills - able to set standards and develop a small team
