The Special Care and Community Dental Service (CDS) in Carlisle & Eden is seeking to recruit a compassionate and motivated individual to come and join our existing team of highly skilled clinicians and support staff providing dental care to our patients.
We are looking for a clinician who makes patient care their first priority and who thrives working with a number of different patient groups. Being able to communicate effectively with both patients and staff is essential as you will be responsible for looking after some of the most vulnerable people in society.
You will be supported to develop skills to deliver the main duty of the post in providing emergency dental care for adult and child patients. You will enjoy the professional support of highly qualified and experienced colleagues, working within well-equipped modern dental clinics and other healthcare facilities.
Main duties of the job
The main role of the Dental Officer are as follows:
1. provide routine dental care to patients referred to, or accessing, the Special Care and Community Dental Service.
2. liaise with a range of social and other health care personnel and agencies to ensure the effective management of and delivery of care to patients with specific requirements.
3. be involved with the delivery of a domiciliary dental service to patients who may require such service.
4. undertake care for patients identified as requiring urgent care by Multi-disciplinary Teams.
5. deliver care, as required, in a variety of locations within the defined localities of Carlisle & Eden

20. One year post-graduate clinical activity

24. Proven experience and competence in routine minor oral surgery.
Knowledge

25. Structure of local NHS Dental services
26. Legislative framework governing the delivery of oral health care in England
27. Basic Life Support
Desirable
28. Contemporary knowledge of Specialist Society guidelines for clinical care
29. Knowledge of legislation and guidance around process of consent
30. Knowledge of current NHSE commissioning guidance for special care and paediatric dentistry
31. Knowledge of SOE dental software
Skills and Aptitudes

32. Ability to organise own workload and manage priorities.
33. Expertise in a range of clinical dentistry
34. Good interpersonal skills with citable examples of working as part of a wider dental team.

36. Demonstrable experience of audit

38. Training in the use of conscious sedation
