Job Description
Experienced Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Practice, Clapham
We are a proudly independent small animal practice in Clapham, built around a sense of space, calm, and genuinely good veterinary medicine. As our caseload continues to grow, we’re looking to welcome a confident Veterinary Surgeon (5+ years’ experience) to join our close-knit, supportive team.
Our practice has been thoughtfully designed to allow everyone — patients, clients, and staff — to breathe. The building is fully air-conditioned throughout and arranged over three levels, with a dedicated dog/exotic clinic and a completely separate cat-only clinic, helping us minimise stress and work efficiently.
On the ground floor, the dog and exotic clinic benefits from a large, light reception area, multiple consult rooms, two operating theatres, a well-equipped prep and dental area, a fully leaded imaging room, and spacious wards and walk-in kennels. There’s also a sunny staff garden at the back — a real bonus for breaks on warmer days.
Above this, the mezzanine level is dedicated entirely to staff: changing facilities, laundry, a comfortable kitchen, office space, and a state-of-the-art IDEXX laboratory that allows us to work up cases properly in-house.
The first floor houses our fully independent cat clinic, complete with its own reception, consult rooms, imaging suite, prep area, operating theatre, cat ward, and manager’s office. The separation works beautifully and is something both clients and clinicians value highly.
Clinically, we are very well equipped and enjoy using all our kit to its full potential. This includes DR digital and dental radiography, ultrasound with echocardiography, multiparameter monitoring, capnography, Doppler blood pressure, tonometry, fluid pumps, bear huggers, and Casco kennels with integrated heating and lighting. We have excellent orthopaedic and dental kits, and the practice owners hold certificates in Small Animal Surgery and Small Animal Dentistry, creating plenty of opportunity for collaboration, development, and case continuity.
