React Native Tech Lead – 6-Month FTC (highly likely to extend)
💰 £75,000–£100,000 DOE
🌍 UK – Remote (occasional on-site collaboration)
We’re supporting a leading digital consultancy in building a brand-new consumer travel companion app for a major household-name travel brand. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a high-profile mobile product from the ground up.
We’re looking for a hands-on React Native Tech Lead to join early in the project, driving technical discovery and development before helping to onboard a small, high-performing team of developers.
The Role
As Tech Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in architecting and delivering a scalable, high-performing mobile app for millions of end users. You’ll be both the technical authority and a core contributor — balancing leadership with hands-on coding.
You’ll work closely with product, design, and backend teams across multiple stakeholders to ensure a seamless user experience that enhances the digital journey for customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a small team of React Native engineers building a cross-platform mobile app (iOS/Android).
* Contribute directly to the codebase — this is a very hands-on role.
* Drive technical discovery, architecture decisions, and mobile strategy from inception.
* Ensure scalable, maintainable, and performant solutions using best-in-class engineering practices.
* Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define and deliver technical roadmaps.
* Implement CI/CD pipelines and mobile testing strategies.
* Promote clean code, documentation, and continuous improvement across the team.
* Stay current with React Native and mobile development best practices, ensuring innovation and stability.
Experience required:
* Proven experience leading mobile teams or projects using React Native.
* Solid understanding of both iOS and Android ecosystems.
* Strong background in TypeScript/JavaScript / modern mobile architecture patterns.
Nice to have:
* Previous experience delivering consumer-facing apps (ideally travel, bookings, or e-commerce).
