Overview
The Machinery Inspection Engineer will be responsible for carrying out thorough examinations and inspections in accordance with statutory requirements under LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, and other relevant legislation. You will work independently in the field, visiting client sites on a daily basis to inspect a wide range of equipment including lifting equipment, passenger lifts, pressure equipment, and workplace machinery. In addition to inspections, you will be expected to complete detailed reports and provide technical advice to clients regarding compliance and remedial actions.
Responsibilities
* Conduct statutory inspections and thorough examinations of machinery and equipment in accordance with LOLER, PUWER, and PSSR legislation.
* Inspect passenger lifts and lifting accessories to assess condition and compliance.
* Identify defects, non-conformities, and areas requiring remedial action, and clearly communicate these in your reporting to clients.
* Produce high level accurate and professional inspection reports using digital systems and submit them in a timely manner.
* Advise clients on safety and compliance issues and support them in understanding and meeting their legal obligations.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, and best practice.
* Deliver outstanding customer service and represent Lycetts Risk Management Services with professionalism at all times.
* Manage your own schedule and travel routes efficiently across the South of England.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and PPE in accordance with internal policies and ensure all activities are carried out safely and responsibly.
Qualifications
* Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) in mechanical or multi-disciplinary engineering.
* Recognised inspection qualifications in LOLER, PSSR, Passenger lift.
* Proven experience inspecting and reporting on passenger lifts.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to interpret legislation and technical documents accurately and clearly.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Ability to work autonomously and manage a busy field-based schedule.
* High attention to detail, integrity, and a strong focus on safety and compliance.
* Previous experience working within an inspection, risk management, or independent test body environment.
* Familiarity with digital inspection systems or reporting platforms.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Machinery Inspection Engineer to join our team. This is a key role involving travel across the South of England to conduct statutory engineering inspections for a diverse client base across sectors such as estates, agriculture, manufacturing, property management, and commercial enterprises.
