We are looking for volunteers to help pack and post items sold online through our eBay shop. Our ecommerce department raises vital funds through the sale of pre-loved goods and sells thousands of valuable, rare and interesting items every year, sending items all over the world. Each item needs to be carefully and attentively wrapped and packaged to reach its destination safely. When am I needed? The ecommerce office is currently located in the Acomb Furniture shop and will be moving to Clifton Moor in early summer 2026. Shifts are available in morning slots (9am – 12pm). Weekly or fortnightly shifts are preferred. Currently we have space for volunteers on Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings. What will I be doing? Carefully package for postage a diverse range of items, from fragile antiques to designer clothing, musical instruments, vintage porcelain and everything in between Work closely with eCommerce team to dispatch 30-50 items a shift Help maintain our excellent eBay feedback rating by making sure customers receive their purchases in excellent condition Maintain tidiness of postage areas and stock take postage supplies What skills and qualities will I need? Comfortable being on feet and handling fragile, awkward items Enjoy working as part of team Good attention to detail Ability to pack items carefully to avoid damage How will I benefit from being a volunteer in the ecommerce team? Be part of a friendly and inclusive team Have the feeling that you have made a difference to someone’s day Be valued and respected Have full training and support Increase specialist knowledge of various types of items Support and Supervision Post and Packing volunteers report to the Ecommerce Development Manager who will provide you with full training and liaise closely with you over all aspects of your role. The Volunteer Services Team will help guide you through the application and induction process and be your point of contact for general enquiries about volunteering. Training Volunteers are required to complete mandatory training modules which are usually delivered via our online platform. Additional, booster and refresher training may be delivered as needed via e-learning, video links or face to face. You may also be invited to attend role specific in person meetings where appropriate.
