Job Title: Ganger
Location: Bristol (BS30) (Preferably Local Candidates)
Start Date: 17th November 2025 (Flexible for the right candidate)
We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Ganger to join our team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading gangs on large infrastructure projects, particularly in highway construction, and will be able to effectively manage and supervise operatives on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and manage a team of up to 30 operatives daily.
* Oversee and coordinate the completion of drainage, curbing, earthworks, and other highway-related tasks.
* Carry out Start of Shift briefings, ensuring all operatives are aware of the day's objectives and safety protocols.
* Conduct inspections, plant checks, and record keeping using IT systems (Tablet or Laptop).
* Ensure work is completed to high standards of safety and quality.
* Manage and allocate plant and equipment efficiently (including Excavators, Dumpers, Rollers).
* Work closely with the General Foreman to ensure project milestones are met.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements:
* SSSTS or SMSTS (Site Supervisors' or Site Manager's Safety Training Scheme).
* Valid plant tickets for Excavator, Dumper, and Roller.
* Full driving licence.
* Experience in highways projects, particularly drainage, curbing, and earthworks.
* Proven experience managing gangs of operatives on civil engineering projects.
* IT literate, with the ability to complete inspections, plant checks, and TBTs (Toolbox Talks) electronically.
* Ability to supervise and manage large teams (up to 30 operatives).
* Preferably local to BS30.
Desirable:
* Previous experience on bridge or highway schemes is a significant advantage.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
