Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT/ Computer Science Teacher to join our vibrant team, at Abbotsholme School. We seek a truly inspiring and energetic individual with passion for their subject and the desire to share their knowledge with all. Abbotsholme is a co-educational, boarding and day school, with pupils aged from 2 to 20, set in a large, beautiful estate on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border. The post holder will assist in the design of an engaging and challenging curriculum that inspires children to appreciate the subject and its application. We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable IT / Computer Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in the field of technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in computer science principles, programming, and digital literacy, and will be committed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.Deliver engaging lessons in IT and Computer Science across key stages (KS3, KS4, and potentially KS5)Teach topics such as programming (Python, Java, etc.), algorithms, data structures, networking, cybersecurity, and software developmentPrepare students for GCSEs, A-levels.Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet diverse learning needsAssess, monitor, and report on student progressPromote digital safety and responsible technology useOrganize extracurricular activities such as coding clubs, hackathons, or robotics competitionsStay current with technological trends and integrate them into teaching practicesCollaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular learning and digital integrationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred)Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certificationStrong programming and technical skillsExcellent communication and classroom management abilitiesExperience with educational technology and virtual learning platformsPassion for teaching and mentoring studentsExperience in curriculum development or exam board moderationIndustry experience in IT or software developmentFamiliarity with emerging technologies like AI, cloud computing, or data scienceAbility to differentiate instruction for mixed-ability groupsFull-time, term-time positionBased in a secondary school .Opportunities for professional development and trainingWe are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable IT / Computer Science Teacher to inspire and educate students in the field of technology.
