Role Overview

You will support the Human Resources/Health & Safety Manager and collaborate closely with all departments, taking on a range of responsibilities, including:
· Managing and updating the new HR system
· Drafting contract amendments and salary adjustment letters
· Assisting with disciplinary and grievance meetings, including note-taking
· Placing advertisements and conducting initial interviews
· Ensuring Health & Safety documentation is distributed and responses collected
· Assisting with diary management
· Assisting with updating HR policies, handbooks, and terms & conditions
· Serving as the first point of contact for a range of HR and Health & Safety queries
· Providing general administrative support for both HR and Health & Safety functions
· Travelling to depots across the UK to audit files and ensure compliance with controlled systems and procedures
· Answering the phone and general office duties
· Completing ad hoc tasks as needed
About you
We are looking for someone with experience in HR or Health & Safety or who is working towards a relevant qualification. This role will involve lots of on-the-job training and support and additional courses will be supplied for the right candidate. Building relationships across the group and a willingness to travel, sometimes requiring overnight stays, are important. A good sense of humour is also valued
Success in this role requires excellent organisation and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You should be a confident communicator, able to engage with colleagues at every level—from drivers to directors—and with external partners. Resilience, attention to detail, a proactive approach, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential.
