GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a long-established and reputable defence engineering firm based in the Birmingham area. We are currently recruiting on their behalf for an experienced Estimating and Planning Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.
This position offers a salary of £30,000 and working office hours of 8.30-5pm some flexibility available. This position provides the opportunity to work within a secure and progressive environment focused on reliability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
As Estimating and Planning Engineer you will support the delivery of company's sales plan to set quality, delivery and cost performance criteria, deliver KPl's and support their improvement to achieve repeatability and profitability of product supplied.
Estimating and Planning Engineer main duties:
* Support delivery of company sales strategy.
* Maintain, develop and encourage regular contact with established & prospective customers.
* Consult with customers to secure orders.
* Work closely with the Business development & Marketing department.
* Input customer feedback into CRM or similar.
* Support project management of contracts working alongside the production departments.
* Prepare and submit quotations byway of timely and accurate estimates
* Liaise with subcontractors to obtain external pricing and lead-times.
* Creation of purchase orders for external work.
* Perform contract reviews of customer purchase orders
* Review and implement any routing change requests, including 'lessons learnt' activities.
* Support production of routing packs to allow manufacturing to commence.
* Production of manufacturing drawings.
* Investigation of variance to standard routes.
* Work with other departments to resolve any manufacturing issues as they arise, developing and encouraging regular face-to-face contact to develop relationships.
* Updating and maintaining estimating and order database and any other commercial data.

Estimating and Planning Engineer required skills and experience:
* Previous experience producing estimates and quotations
* Ability to manage process improvements
* Skilled in managing customer orders and building client relationships
* Project and contract management
