If you are passionate about shaping the future pharmacy workforce, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact. We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our Education and Training Team.

In this senior role you will lead the education, training and development of Pre-registration Trainee and newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians, supporting them to thrive and progress in their careers. You will plan, develop and deliver high-quality training programmes and contribute to the training of wider staff groups across the department.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential as you will work closely with NHSE, national stakeholders and partner organisations to establish and sustain training placements and associated funding streams.

You will act as a professional role model providing clinical supervision, educational support and line management to junior and trainee pharmacy staff. As an Educational Supervisor you will mentor Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians throughout their two-year qualification, fostering confidence, competence and professional growth.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your own leadership skills within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation. The post is based at York Hospital with travel to Scarborough Hospital once a week. Full time hours are available and part-time working will be considered (minimum 30 hours over 4 days).

Main duties of the job

1. To lead, manage, facilitate, and review the education and training needs of Pharmacy Technicians, Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Support workers and other grades of staff where appropriate.
2. To ensure training needs are formally met and achieved through the relevant training establishments.
3. To undertake line management responsibility for Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians, Rotational Pharmacy Technicians, Senior Pharmacy Technician for E&T and Senior Pharmacy Assistants for E&T.
4. To liaise with NHSE, national stakeholders and other authorities (such as HEIs) to establish and maintain training placements and secure funding streams.
5. To coordinate the Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician training or other relevant qualifications.
6. To be an Educational Supervisor for Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians.
7. Coordination of the NVQ Level 2 or equivalent GPhC approved training programme for Pharmacy Support Staff across the Pharmacy department and to ensure timely completion and achievement of this award.
8. To provide sessional support as an ACT in the dispensary, and ward-based clinical services
9. You must possess excellent communication and organisational skills to undertake this role: you must be able to work accurately, have a good eye for detail, be able to prioritise your workload, meet deadlines and be committed to the delivery of high standard training to provide a patient focused service.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

18. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
19. Certificate in management or equivalent training, including effective and legal recruitment, appraisal, and performance management;
20. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC);

Desirable criteria

21. QCF Level 4 or above in a qualification relevant to the post.
22. ACT or PIPC qualification.

Experience & Knowledge Required

Essential criteria

23. Specialist clinical and / or technical knowledge relating to the service to be managed;
24. Knowledge of legislation, and pharmacy law and ethics in relation to the service to be managed;
25. Knowledge of clinical governance, medicines management, risk management, health and safety and the wider health service;
26. A length of experience sufficient to gain the competencies required for the post;
27. Appropriate use of negotiating and influencing skills;
